Have your say on the proposed new No Cold Calling Zones within Claygate, Cobham and Hersham
Surrey County Council Trading Standards, Surrey Police and Elmbridge Borough Council are currently working together to look at ways of reducing the levels of distraction burglary and doorstep related crime within Elmbridge.
One of the initiatives that is being considered is the implementation of three No Cold Calling Zones. The proposed zones will cover Claygate, a large part of Hersham and a small section of North West Cobham. No Cold Calling Zones previously established in Guildford, Maybury and Horley, have shown great reductions in this type of crime by raising residents’ awareness and empowering them to be more confident when dealing with unwanted doorstep callers. They also help to reduce the number of callers that residents receive as the zones have No Cold Calling Zone road signs erected at various entry points which act as visible deterrents. During the initial phase of this process Surrey County Council want to be able to consider all points of view about the proposed zones, and are especially interested in the views of residents who live within these areas and local businesses whose activities may be affected.
Therefore, they would like to take the opportunity to welcome all comments and observations using the Surrey Trading Standards web site: www.surreycc.gov.uk or email to: nccz@surreycc.gov.uk, or telephone Consumer Direct on 08454 040506
