August 2026 Newsletter

Please find below a brief update on Estate matters following the most recent Board meeting.

Communications

Please note that communications from the Board will continue to be sent by email, however urgent communications will be sent via the ‘Oxshott Way Estate Residents Group’  WhatsApp group chat (which is only used for Board communications), but will no longer also be added to the general Oxshott Way Estate group chat.  If you are not a member of the ‘Oxshott Way Estate Residents Group’  WhatsApp chat please send an email to communications@owra.co.uk including your mobile number and a link to join will be sent to you.

Trees and verges

Thanks to all residents who have been watering their trees during the prolonged drought. Mark Lindsey will be watering new trees weekly throughout August, however, please do continue to water as well as they need all the hydration they can get.

Roads and gates

Almost all of the scheduled 'summer works' have been completed. The entrances have been cleaned and repainted throughout including the replacement of timber where appropriate.

The refresh of the on-road signage including white lines, relevant yellow lines and speed marking/speed humps is complete and the work to repair road surfaces was completed in May.

The exceptional and recurring heatwaves have provided a new challenge for our aged infrastructure; in the main the gates have been reliable in operation, but the hydraulic motor arms have struggled especially at Mizen Way/Leigh Hill Road (our 'Gate 5') and Oxshott Way/Stoke Road ('Gate 4') which take the full-on sun in the afternoon. It has proven necessary to set them to permanently open status on the hottest days as a conscious decision, one of the knock-on consequences being some drivers have seen this as an opportunity to enter the estate even more quickly especially at Gate 5. The gate stop has been replaced twice during 2026.

ANPR

We intend to implement the ANPR Gate Access control to all estate entrance gates during the week commencing 7th September. As a reminder this means that for those of you who have submitted your Vehicle Registration Numbers (VRNS) already, entry/exit to the estate will be as now.  Any 'unrecognised' vehicles (ie those not in the OWRA managed database) will be subject to a 10 second delay.

If you have not submitted your VRN's please do so now by emailing details to security@owra.co.uk with a copy to communications@owra.co.uk.  Please confirm if registrations are residents/family and friends or service providers.  We will do our best to load these details as quickly as we can.

For the small number of you who requested a physical card token, this will be provided on receipt of the signed T's and C's (as advised previously) which will be placed in your letterbox: please return to Mark Mayhew (16 Oxshott Way) and your suitably numbered card will be handed to you prior to 'Go Live'.

As there are some technical changes required of our service partners we will advise the exact Go Live' date on the ‘Oxshott Way Estate Residents Group’  WhatsApp chat in the interest of time; as above please email communications@owra.co.uk with details of your mobile number if you are not a member of this group chat.

Best wishes,

The OWRA Board.
